Mika Rosenfeld
(born as Dominika Długokęcka in 1979 in Poland)
I studied Directing at the Polish National Film School in Lodz, after finishing studies of Journalism, Photography and Oceanology.
I started my journey into my passion from my first documentary ‘Honour thy mother and thy father’ (2005) which was an intimate portrait of mother. The film was noticed and awarded at numerous film festivals. Shortly after I started writing my own scripts and directing shorts films, among them ‘So Much Water So Close To Home’ adaptation of Raymond Carver's short story, which won the award for the best foreign film at the NYC Short Film Festival.
In 2011 I moved to London, where I have founded my workshop SECOND SKIN Works which goal is a collaboration with artists based on experimental cinematic storytelling. I have made two feature length documentaries: 50/50 (2010) and ’SON OF ARAM’ (2015). In 2015 I had a privilege to direct an opera performance at the Warsaw Chamber Opera - ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. Currently I’m writing a script for my first feature film.
